Look out for warning signs of potential damage

If you don’t know what to look for, it can be difficult to identify problems with your roof. Even if you are familiar with what to look out for, inspecting your roof without professional training or experience can prove dangerous.

Our roofers have created a guide on how to inspect a roof. These tips will help you know what to look out for and how safe it is.

Take a look at your Shingles

Shingles are the outermost layer of your roof. They are often the first to show signs. They are the most visible part of your roof and they can be easily evaluated from the ground.

Take a long, hard look at your roof to see if there are any of these:

  • You are missing shingles
  • Discoloration
  • Pooled water
  • Curled Shingles
  • Visible cracks

Contact our roofing experts immediately if you notice any of these symptoms. You may have a serious problem with your roof that needs professional diagnosis and repair.

Make sure you check the flashing and vents

Use a ladder to inspect the base of your chimney. The area between your chimney and the rest of the roof is covered in a thin metallic coating. Flashing is also known as flashing. If there are any cracks, rust or other issues with the flashing, we recommend calling our professional roofers.

Check Your Attic

Investigating your attic is a safe way to check for roof damage. To make sure that they are still sturdy, inspect the rafters, joists, and look for signs of roof leakage. While you’re there, inspect the roof for droppings and nests. There’s a chance that animals made their home in your attic and chewed through the roof to gain access.

Always put safety first

When inspecting your roof, safety should be your top priority. When possible, avoid walking on the roof. Also, make sure ladders that you use to gain a better view are securely attached to the ground.

Contact our professional roofing inspectors if you are unable to reach an area that could be problematic. Our skills and training allow us to inspect your roof thoroughly without putting you or your family at risk.
